Things to Be Aware of
Shuffle the deck and get acquainted with Sorry’s cards before placing your pawns in the START area.
Alternately select cards, move your piece as directed, and try to force other players to start over by landing on the same square as them.
When a pawn moves into the SAFETY ZONE, it is safe; but, the game is not won until all of your pawns are in the HOME zone.
Arrangement
Put all of your pawns in the START area after deciding on your pawn color. Four sets of four pawns each in the colors red, blue, green, and yellow are included with Sorry. Take all four pawns in the color of your choice. Next, position all four pieces on the Sorry board’s start area.
After the shuffle, arrange the cards on the board. Take the Sorry cards and give them a couple of shakes to mix them up. Ensure that the cards in the pile are all face the same way. After that, set the pile face down on the board’s card slot. The deck has eleven distinct card kinds, each of which gives you a little different set of abilities.
Choose a leader for the group. Before you begin the game, decide who gets to go first. You can choose to start with the player who won the previous game you played, choose a player at random, or start with the youngest (or oldest) player. For the remainder of the game, turns will be awarded clockwise, starting with the player to the left of the player who goes first.
Rules of the Game
At the start of every turn, draw a card. Drawing a card from the pile is the first action a player takes when their turn begins. You are unable to remove cards from the discard pile. You can only draw cards that are face down. When you draw a card, read the instructions and execute as instructed.
You may jump over other players or your pawns. You can jump over another player’s pawns and your pawns if you draw a card that advances one or more of your pawns past their pawns. If you leap another player’s piece, don’t move it; instead, travel to the space where your card permits you to go.
If you land in an occupied space, bump the pawns of your opponents. You must move your piece back to the START space if you land on one of your opponent’s pawn’s spaces. In Sorry, two pawns can never be in the same space.
If you come to rest on a SLIDE triangle, slide. You get to slide to the circle at the end of the triangle if you land on a SLIDE triangle that is not the same color as the pawns you have selected. Move any pawns, including your own, back to the START space as you slide. Don’t slide if the triangle and your pawns are the same color. During your next turn, just remain where you are on the triangle and move normally.
Keep the SAFETY ZONE in mind. Every player possesses a SAFETY ZONE that matches the color of their pawns. You can enter your SAFETY ZONE if the card you draw permits you to do so. By doing this, you might be able to avoid losing the advancement you have achieved with one of your pawns. If the card permits it, you can move your pawn back out of the SAFETY ZONE on a later turn.
If you use up every card before the game ends, shuffle the discard pile. Before the game ends, you and the other players may draw every card in the deck. If so, just shuffle the deck and place the new cards face down on the Sorry board’s card location.
To win the game, move every pawn you have to the HOME space. To triumph I apologize, but you must move every pawn to the home space. It may seem easy to get your pawns home, but other players can push you back to START, so it could take some time. To get there, you must furthermore draw precisely how many spaces there are between a pawn and your home space. The number is limited to the number of spaces that separate your pawn from the HOME space.
